Strong Women, God’s Design ~

     As mentioned last week, women tend to be the more emotionally led sex, and this is often perceived as a weakness equating to inferiority. However, that is far from the truth for relying fully on one’s natural way of thinking, be it analytical or emotional, has its downfalls. We are all to rely only on the wisdom of God and not trust in ourselves. Let’s consider God’s wisdom in placing emotions into human nature. Emotions are a gift, not a curse. They can provide a heart and mind that looks deeper and gives insight, demonstrates compassion, and utilizes godly wisdom in situations.

     Females are also often considered more relational. Tight-knit bonds can form easily for women during conversation, and as believers we live this out in godly fellowship and discipling/mentoring. The closeness women feel in relationships comes from a natural inclination to nurture, love, and care for others. Building close relationships results in being a better helpmate, mother, daughter, sister, or friend. Ultimately, it is a gift, for in desiring closeness, we can grow close to our God and Savior!

     Lastly, women are often labeled in male/female relationships as the one who desires love, but that is of God. Love is a virtue, a strength, and a marker of those who belong to God (I John 4:7). As the Holy Spirit dwells in us, we can exhibit “fruit of the Spirit”, the first from which all others flow is love (Galatians 5:22-23). And of such godly attributes as faith, hope, and love, love is the greatest (I Corinthians 13:13). Possessing and demonstrating love is a strength because by doing so we imitate God, who Himself is Love (I John 4:8).

     When a girl or woman lives for God, it is a beautiful thing and powerful thing. Think of women like Ruth, Deborah, Mary (Lazarus’ sister), Mary the mother of Jesus, and Elizabeth. These women possessed emotions, desired close relationships, and exhibited godly love. When we use these inherit attributes we stand out, but moreover, we give glory to God, our Creator! Being female is beautiful because, just as with men, our unique design points to God.
