As our time studying Proverbs has ended, I pray that the lessons we’ve learned continue to transform our lives. Afterall, a wise person is one who is humble and remains a life-long student of God’s Word. As you may have noticed, Proverbs is repetitive; themes, topics, and warnings are repeated over and over, but such repetition is necessary and good for us (Philippians 3:1). So, let’s reflect on some of the main ideas.
-True wisdom and knowledge are only given to those who revere God.
-The wise, righteous, honest, humble, and hard-working gain God’s favor and blessings.
-Be a person who speaks words of life to others.
-Choose your counsel and friends wisely because they make a big impact in your life.
-Beware of pride because it will inevitably lead to your fall.
-Those whose strength is in themselves will fall prey to vices.
-Pursue to live as the virtuous woman in chapter 31, honoring and glorifying God in all you do.
Author’s Personal Note ~
Proverbs has greatly impacted my own life. In all my years of reading the book I have never delved so deep into learning AND applying it. Truthfully, I was initially overwhelmed by the scope of Proverbs, but I knew God had led me to study and share it with you. Since, the first week till now I can attest to God using it to stretch and grow me both spiritually and as a writer. His Spirit gave me vision and clarity for each chapter, and His faithfulness continues to astound me each time I sit to write. Completing this book is quite momentous, I owe all thanks to my Lord.
In thanking the Lord, I include thanks for my mom. She has been not only my editor but also a great source of encouragement throughout this entire season. She motivates me to continue even when I get weary, challenges me to constantly improve my writing skills, and walks beside me each step of the way. We are so excited for what God has next!
