Graduates…I am Pursuing My Goals~

Last week we touched on not needing to have our whole life figured out upon graduation. We spoke of Moses, a man who found purpose in other responsibilities before he was called to lead the Israelites. Today we will learn about someone who was given his call when quite a bit younger.

David was just a teenager when Samuel anointed him king of Israel, though he knew the fulfillment of his calling wouldn’t come until a later time. David continued to honor God and live a life of integrity until God was ready for him to assume kingship. David even remained loyal to the king (the one before him) though he sought repeatedly to kill David. He also developed a close friendship with the prince and led an army. When God finally opened the door, David was prepared and reigned for 40 years.

Some of you may know what this feels like to get a stirring from God at a young age. Maybe He’s called you to the mission field, to evangelize, to be a doctor, a teacher, or a mom. You know the steps you need to take to embrace this call and move forward to get where God wants you. This is an exciting place to be! However, with that excitement can come doubts and impatience.

May I encourage you from a place of understanding? You must not give up on your call as you are taking steps to reach it. As you are, and have been, working toward this, make sure to enjoy the process. There is purpose in the process. There is refining in the training. David learned many skills and developed godliness as he waited on the Lord; you can, too!

Let’s live in submission to God’s will. When we hand Him our life, dreams, and goals He will pave a path for us and lead us where He knows is best for us. And then, His will will become ours and far surpass our wildest dreams!

 God Bless!
