Change: A Season to Grow ~

In our culture the new year is sometimes thought of as a clean slate. We begin by making resolutions to do better (physically, mentally, or spiritually). However, many times in life roadblocks pop up, new paths open, and sure enough our year doesn’t look quite like what we thought. Some resist change considering all change to be bad; others welcome and embrace it hopeful it will bring something better. Though it may be hard to hear, change from God is ALWAYS for the good!

Our lives have seasons, and just like in nature, they can look very different. One of the definitions I found for season was “a proper or suitable time” (Oxford Language). In Ecclesiastes 3:1 it says, “To everything there is a season, a time for every purpose under heaven.” The meaning of season in Hebrew means, “a set time, appointed time” (Strong’s Hebrew Lexicon- NKJV). Thus, God appoints the duration of each season to what is proper for our lives.

Unfortunately, we live in a fallen world, so changes aren’t always going to make us happy or feel fair. But, as Christians we can rest in knowing that even when our life is turned upside down, we have a God who is more than big enough to use everything in our lives for our good, and He only desires that which is best for us.

Most people like to be comfortable and feel safe, but the Christian lifestyle is not always that way. The more you surrender your life to Christ the more He will ask you to do things out of your comfort zone, to bring you to a place of full dependency on Him.

Change is inevitable and unavoidable. It is sometimes beautiful but can also be tragic. Sometimes exciting or maybe a little scary. Sometimes it’s a little bit of everything! But you can face it and come out the better for it because God will never let any easy or extremely hard thing in your life go to waste.

God bless you! <3
