“I wonder if the snow loves the trees and fields, that it kisses them so gently? And then it covers them up snug, you know, with a white quilt; and perhaps it says, ‘Go to sleep, darlings, till the summer comes again.’”― Lewis Carroll, Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland/Through the Looking-Glass
Winter is seen by many as a dreary, cold time where nothing looks nice and it’s too cold and wet to go out and get stuff done. I, on the other hand, LOVE winter! It is a time to wear sweaters, drink tea, watch the rain, and read a good book snuggled up in a blanket. God designed this time for not only His nature to rest but His children as well. Ever wonder why so many people get sick during this time? Not just because it’s cold but because we do things on overdrive throughout the rest of the year. Our bodies are screaming for rest! From crops to trees, from old to young, we all need a time to rest, to pause and take in all God has done this year and will do as the weather gets warmer in the coming months.
When we slow down, we can appreciate the little things we don’t see when we are rushing from one place to another. With pause comes reflection, with reflection comes thankfulness, with thankfulness comes joy. Take time during this season of quiet to thank God for different things as you go through your day. You will feel incredibly blessed, content, and happy.
God bless you! <3
