A Good Steward of Resources (part 2) ~

Throughout the New Testament we are reminded that we are stewards of this world. God, our Master, has entrusted us with various resources, including money, that we may invest it on His behalf. Money can be viewed as a taboo topic among people in the church. However, if Jesus addresses it, then we should not avoid the lessons He is teaching regarding it! We must listen to and obey His standards if we are to be a good and godly steward. Author Randy Alcorn points out in his book, Money, Possessions & Eternity, the fact that Jesus mentions money more than any other topic in His teachings.

Jesus address both poor and rich; He taught that ALL were to give. The command to give is hard for some to follow; the erroneous thinking that, “I worked for this, so I should be able to do as I please with it,” has caused many to be spiritually stunted. When we do not tithe or give as He leads, we are missing out on blessings and robbing God. On the contrary, when God’s people cheerfully give, they receive joy and freedom because they are no longer enslaved to things; the idol and love of money and material goods has been torn down. (2 Corinthians 9:6-7)

“Enter by the narrow gate; for wide is the gate and broad is the way that leads to destruction, and there are many who go in by it.” Matthew 7:13. We can’t take much on the narrow road, so many choose to enter the wide gate and traverse the broad road; there they can drag all their material ‘gods’ along with them. At the end of our lives, the outcome for all our possessions is the same, they will not go with us; in fact, when this world passes away all things will be destroyed. Hold loosely to earthly goods; invest now in eternity. (Matthew 6:33).

Be a good and faithful steward!

God bless you! <3
