A Good Steward of Gifts and Talents ~

“As each one has received a gift, minister it to one another, as good stewards of the manifold grace of God” (1 Peter 4:10).

Around 2,000 yrs. ago Peter wrote to brothers and sisters in different countries to serve one another with the God-given gifts they had received. Today, we ought to take up the same call. We must thank God for our gifts AND use them to bring Him glory!

Think of people like Fanny Crosby, C.S. Lewis, Leonardo da Vinci, Isaac Newton, and so many others. Think of all the hymns, books, paintings, inventions, discoveries, and scientific breakthroughs that never would have been had these people kept their gifts to themselves. We are to use our gifts to build up others; God did not give us these gifts so we can use them for our own personal gain.

If you have a beautiful voice, sing worship songs in your home or children’s ministry or even the main sanctuary. If you have the gift of encouragement, go to those the Holy Spirit leads you to and pour love, compassion, and wisdom into them. If you are good with technology, serve in sound or media ministry. There are many gifts AND countless opportunities to use them; God would not have given you a gift with no chance to use it!

It’s time to stop putting it off or playing it down. It’s time to act, follow God’s leading, and see what He can do through you!

God bless you! <3
